Since entering the ministry he’s had a passion for church planting, this passion led him to plant his first Church, Richmond Christian Chapel, in 1971. EmailWell let’s see… What can I say about who I am…? I’m a native of the good ole Show-Me State and I have served as Communication Director of Missouri Operation for Vigorous Evangelism (M.O.V.E.) since the spring of 2011. Prior joining the M.O.V.E ministry team I spent 12 years in preaching ministry serving churches in Missouri, Illinois, and most recently Idaho where I was the Sr. Minister of Mini-Cassia Community Christian Church. I grew up on a farm just east of High Point MO, graduating from California High School in 1998. I attended Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, MO earning a B.A. in Cross Cultural Ministry in 2002 I went on to earn a M.A. in Ministry, along with my T.E.S.O.L. certification from Lincoln Christian University in 2007. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Biblical Studies.
So in the ministry world I’m a communications guy… but I’ll always be a preacher at heart! To me ministry communications is so much more than effective speaking, writing, or compelling web and graphic design. It’s about creatively and effectively communicating MOVE’s vision, our God-given task of taking the Gospel to the world through encouraging, equipping, and establishing new Churches. My greatest desire in ministry is to use my talents to ensure MOVE has everything it needs to keep that vision and message going, into the community, and around the world! I am so excited and immensely humbled to be a part of this ministry team, to be not only a voice for church planting, but an active participant in God’s ongoing work here in the state of Missouri.
This is a work that impacts not only our local area, but in reality the entire world! I know that I’m certainly not the most gifted at what I do, but at the end of the day, what truly inspires me about what I’ve been called to do is the idea that that my gifts, talents, skills, and past experiences can be used to help plant churches, change lives, transform communities, and ultimately bring Glory to God… And what could be better than that? On the home front my family is the center of my world! My wife Kim and I met while students in Bible College and married in the summer of 2002. She is my best friend, as well as a dedicated ministry partner. We have one child, a little boy named Noah James who joined our family in February 2008. He’s a little “firecracker,” and life of our home! In my spare time I enjoy cooking, hunting, fishing, camping, target shooting, spending time in God’s creation, and watching MU and Kansas City Chiefs football. I am an avid history enthusiast and I collect antique books. I’m a lover of music and have quite an eclectic taste, counting everything from Opera to Classic Rock, Contemporary Christian to Bluegrass.
In the past I have served in many capacities for both church and community organizations. I’ve been a hospital chaplain, volunteer firefighter/first responder, and an internal affairs officer for a security company. I have also been privileged to have served on various executive boards for organizations such as Intermountain Christian Camp, Goose Creek Township Carnegie Library, and the Mississippi Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America -Eagle Ridge District.
Favorite Bible Verse: “And if you give yourself to the hungry And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday.” (Isaiah 58:10)
Life Ministry Verse: “We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.” (Colossians 1:28-29)
